The Story:

Dabangg is directed by Abhinav Kashyap and produced by Arbaaz Khan. It is the first film of newly launched Arbaaz Khan Productions. The lead actors in the film include Arbaaz's elder brother, Salman Khan. For his role as a police officer, Salman Khan sports a moustache for the second time in his career.


Salman plays police officer Chulbul Pandey, who is described as "fearless, corrupt, lovable and a bad-ass Robin Hood." It's such an incredible movie. People say it's ground-breaking in many ways... Bollywood's first FX creature-feature, directed by Jennifer Lynch, the daughter of a legendary Hollywood director David Lynch, about India's ancient superhero, the Nagin! The Hollywood FX takes a little longer to look really good. But, I'm confident our snake looks as good, if not better, than the snakes in " Prince of Persia" and " Clash of the Titans"!

Influenced, Not inspired!
Nagin films are a rich tradition anywhere where Hinduism and Buddhism has travelled. Jennifer Lynch and the creative team looked at some of the previous films to make sure they would come up with new ideas for a more modern, global vision of the popular legend. The Vedic scriptures are very much a part of the film. The director even visited the snake temple at Nagercoil. But, at the same time, she also hung out with the herpetologists at the snake park in Chennai.

An experience of a lifetime
I had to shoot sometimes for 14 hours a day in a full-bodied snake suit with tail extensions, hair extensions, snake eye contact lenses... without even visiting the ladies' room at my convenience! Tough days included lying in the mud, half-naked in the jungles of Kerala where it's practically raining leeches, to running around a Mumbai market for the big chase scene, doing stunts in a burka. It's been a tough journey. Nevertheless, interesting and enriching!

Grabbing eyeballs!
The supposedly 'topless' scenes in the movies have also generated a hype. I didn't mean to offend anybody; it was a very artistic shot. But then again, I forgot I was the only one who knew I was clothed underneath in a skin-colored bodysuit! People say we do these things just to promote our movies, but I have lots of fun doing what I do, making movies, promoting them, and living life. Performing with a 15-foot python was one of the best moments of my life!


If only Hollywood had a Rajini
I'm a fan of the great Rajinikanth. The man is amazing; he's blessed in a special way. And yes, if Hollywood had a Rajnikanth Film Festival for a night and the theatre was filled, I bet he'd become a cult-sensation there, too! Rajnikanth is like the Hollywood hero that Hollywood never had

Kajol, Bebo are family: KJo

It would be impossible for Karan Johar to choose between the two Ks — Kajol and Kareena Kapoor. He has known Kajol for 26 years now, and like he says, "We've grown up together."

As for Kareena, he has known her for around 15 years but theirs is a relationship beyond time. "My father (Yash Johar) was very fond of both Kajol and Kareena. After I made Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna, he had immediately asked me to make another film with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. He loved Kajol as an actress. As for Kareena, he had a permanent smile on his face when she was shooting Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham with us because she invariably said the funniest things." Of course, it doesn't end there. As Karan puts it, even his mother (Hiroo Johar) has a one-on-one relationship with the girls — Kajol, Kareena and Rani Mukerji. "Unfortunately, I don't have any siblings. Bebo and Kajol are the girls I grew up with. And I invariably think that if I had siblings they should ideally be a perfect amalgamation of Kajol and Kareena in personality and looks."


Karan laughs and adds, "Bebo with all her madness is a person with the warmest heart; and Kajol for all her moodiness is the most solid person that I know." Of course, while he admits that WAF wouldn't have happened but for these two women of substance, he also is all praise for his hero Arjun Rampal, who he has observed over the years. "His is the talked about evolution from a model to a star-actor," says Karan. He also feels that Arjun who has been growing from performance to performance has now come into his own as an actor. "And we're all proud of him. He is the only National Award-winner on board though we have two of the most talented actresses in there."

Karan is grateful to Arjun for saying yes to the film without much ado and he feels that though Arjun started out winning notices for his good looks, off late, he has been getting accolades for all his performances from Rock On to Raajneeti."Arjun is a warm guy, a personal friend and of course, like I said, a guy whose evolution as a star-actor is something that makes me happy and proud."

Palak aka Gurmet Kaur who called herself a ‘fighter’ and claimed to survive in the jungle has been eliminated from Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao but she is not crying aloud. Instead she is heaving a sigh of relief that now she is sleeping on a cozy bed and eating a full course meal at home!

Aman and Palak were in the bottom two, and had to face the deadly Maha Jungle Challenge. The challenge involved the contestants to keep live creepy crawlies like worms, snakes etc in their mouth.

After learning about the task, Palak was hesitant but managed to keep a snake in her mouth for a while, however she lost to Aman who performed the challenge successfully.

She confesses “This has been the toughest show of my life. I have had a great time here and have made some really good friends.

Aakashh was like an elder brother, Mona and Negar were my close pals.” According to her the toughest time spent in the jungle was this week because she was dying of hunger as the food quantity was less. She says “Main frustrate ho gayi thi…kyunki food is a very important for our body… aur soya bean- chawal khaake halat kharab ho rahi thi.”

Unfortunately she was eliminated just 1 day after her birthday, she says “This was indeed my best birthday and I loved the way my camp mates celebrated it! Aakashh gifted me chappals and Marc a bedsheet which was robbed from jannat!”

Quiz Palak on the winners who will survive, she feels there are two deserving contestants for the title “I would want to see Aakash or Negar win. Aakashh is tough and has it in him, while for Negar it will be a good opportunity to come clean of the controversies that surrounded her life in India and maybe come back”.

For now this bindaas babe is looking forward to more work and will watch the show daily to stay updated with what her camp mates are upto!

Ashwarya Rai Threatens legal Action!

Upset over "fabricated" media stories about her private life, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has threatened legal action against those responsible, a statement issued by her publicist said Thursday.

"Certain sections of the press have been behaving in a callous manner and have been putting together articles or pieces without any semblance of truth and furthermore they have been attributing quotes to the actor which are baseless and false. Previously our client preferred to remain silent to let better sense prevail be it the news when she was married off to a tree or otherwise. This silence should not be misconstrued as a weakness," the statement read.

The statement was issued to counter an article titled "Career more important than family" by a website where one of the quotes attributed to the actress read: "If I want to remain in the film industry then I need to stay fit", that implied that she will not have children. The article also stated that her actor-husband Abhishek Bachchan was in agreement with her stand.

"She is one actress who never made any statements that her marriage can wait and she will focus on her career. When she did, she got her family's blessings and got married in the middle of a film and has been a thorough professional even after her wedding," the statement said.

"We must not forget that besides being a star in every right Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is about a daughter, a wife, and a daughter in law, a symbol of our tradition and she has always believed and practiced values that govern our society. Irresponsible statements about her private life will not be left to grow without a strong rebuttal," it added.

The statement also warned of strict legal action against those behind such stories about the 35-year-old.

"This may be read and understood in no uncertain terms that hence forth we would be forced to take legal recourse in any such event of a piece or article appearing without any credibility or which is an absolute fabrication of one's imagination... We must respect Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for her stand to remain silent on such baseless rumours but it would be wrong to use her name to further a personal cause or career," it read.

That’s just an unfortunate side effect of being part of this industry! I don’t think any actor would voluntarily want his life under such public scrutiny. It’s sometimes stressful and sometimes amusing! I read all sorts of stuff in the news, and a lot of it is news to me too because I didn’t know I was doing this! Like random rumours of linkups with my co-stars and stories of me doing films only with certain actresses etc. But I’m learning to develop a thicker skin and laugh it off now.

What exactly went wrong between Kangna and you?

I think the relationship did its time. We’re both very young and have demanding careers which require a lot of attention at this stage. I feel love can wait, but my career won’t. Opportunities that are being offered to me at present need one pointed attention and I want to be able to do that. This relationship was never meant to be.

The relationship may not have been easy considering she was an already established actress and you were just starting off.

Well, I never saw Kangna as a star. Our relationship was just a ‘normal guy meets girl’ thing. I think the bigger star perception was actually created by the media. It was never the reality of our relationship which was simpler. Other than Raaz, none of my movies are with Kangna, so it’s irrelevant... and I wish her all the success.

You are all set for your first film as solo lead...

I’m really looking forward to Jashnn. It’s been an incredible experience to be guided and directed by Mahesh Bhatt, one of the finest directors ever. My parents were so proud of me after watching the film. My father asked, ‘How did you portray the depth of emotions that your character required?’
